Where are the Cathedrals

When I think of an Atheist Church I think of a beautiful ornate building with stained glass impressions of Marie Curie, Charles Darwin, and images of how evolution may have happened. I think of karaoke being sung by hundreds of intelligent informed atheists in a huge building aglow with the energy of interesting lectures and interactive community games. So, if this is the First Church of Atheism, where are the buildings, and how do I help in making more of them? How do I make a career out of being a minister with weekly lessons on real cosmology, real biology, real social sciences, and real morality?
Let’s get it done!

Atheists wouldn’t build cathedrals. They are simply too expensive, a waste of resources, and most importantly have structural problems (at least until flying buttresses).

Community centers and schools on the other hand… I imagine a school that looks like that would be a rather good way to inspire students. At the very least it might get them to stop putting gum under their desks.

Why restrict ourselves to a building? Besides the people that need to hear the message we have are not going to be there anyway.

It would be nice to have a meeting place though. I know I’m not the only atheist in my area, but I don’t know who any of them are though.

I agree. I’d love to see fellow atheists in a set meeting place - I mean, to be honest, a cathedral is just simply impractical and a waste of money/time/energy. But I wouldn’t be against the idea of a quaint little congregation in a college town like Boulder or Berkley.
